Heya, everybody! Thanks for your patience with updates coming so infrequently! I wanted to share a little news from earlier this week: I just had a new exclusive published with Pineapple Zine, as of 2/28/2019. The editorial, chosen by their editor, Ben, features boyfriends and models, Blake B & Blake O; and was shot in early February of 2019 in downtown LA.
Editorials do need to have a certain story, even a simple one. The Blakes wanted to work with flowers in our studio; thus, I needed to justify their presence. From the editorial itself: “There’s nothing like young love and floral arrangements to make you think about the inevitability of loss. I wanted something so pristine, so statuesque and at once languished, that it was vaguely funereal.” The hope was that, through their stillness, I could convey that statuary quality like live (or dead?) marble. While it’s true that neither Blake B nor Blake O lack a naturally-animated quality, the flowers themselves seemed to have a stilling effect. They understood their project.
It’s really gratifying to be published with Pineapple again, too. They’ve gone through a kind of revamp recently, pushing for more printed content and changing up their website/image. My old editorial featuring Andrew NJ was taken down, lost to time and the death of Tumblr. I’m grateful to Ben for accepting these images and giving them a home.
However, don’t just stand there! The title image above doesn’t do credit to the full editorial at all. From the safety of your home (or phone)—as some images are most certainly NSFW—go check out the full post on Pineapple Zine itself. The whole page deserves your attention, too, as Ben is a master curator and excellent at bringing amazing queer artists together: I’m humbled to be a part of his project along with the Blakes and “The names which stem from them.” Again, the full editorial can be found here.
